How To Update Samsung Galaxy POP S5570 with Gingerbread 2.3.4 Firmware


So are you ready to get what it takes to Live Smart, yes you are correct as we are talking about your smart phone which is none other than the Samsung Galaxy POP S5570. With one of the powerful smart phones having the super fast 600 MHz processor and also comes with several other functionalities which makes this smart phone better than any other smart phone which is present in this range of price. So, for this smart phone we will see in this article on how you can easily update to the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.4 version. After all, your phone with such a brilliant phone deserves the latest version of Gingerbread. Please note that this all new Gingerbread version of firmware is dubbed as XXKPK 2.3.4.
Please note that this version of Gingerbread 2.3.4 version is not an official version of firmware and is the beta version leak which is leaked from the house of Samsung and soon will be releasing via the KIES channel after which you will be able to update, but as a reader of Android Advices, we will see on how you too can test and apply this firmware on your Galaxy POP S5570 phone. Though there is no harm in following this article, but you need to ensure that you are not missing out any of the step or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone.
Also, most importantly since this is a beta ROM there will be some bugs which will be addressed and will be solved in the next available version of firmware, so just in case if you find any then do let us know if you face any issues. Since this is the manual release, you need to update with the help of Odin and not with the help of the traditional KIES tool for PC. For your convenience, we have ensured that all the sections in this article are separated and are placed across different pages which this article is splitted into.
Since, this is a global version of firmware, anyone around the globe who has the Samsung Galaxy POP S5570 can proceed with the instructions which are mentioned in the due course of this article. In the due course of this article we will see on how you can easily follow the list of pre requisites, enhancements and then followed by the instructions to update the phone with the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.4. 
Pre Requisites:
  • So, before you proceed ensure that you have created a backup of all the necessary data in your phone as in the due course of the upgradation of the firmware you will be losing all the data which is there in your phone. The data which is there in your external SD card will stay intact, so you can move all your data like images, videos and songs in the memory card so that all the data is safeguarded.
  • All other data like SMS and contacts can be backed up easily too which you can follow the instructions from the below links.
  • Apart from the SMS, Contacts, Images, Videos and Songs you will also have to ensure that you note down all the APN Settings which are there in your phone along with the MMS Settings which are responsible for accessing the Internet as well as for sending the MMS Settings. The APN Settings as well as the MMS Settings in your Galaxy POP can be backed up from this path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.
  • Now, once all the data is backed up you will now have to proceed for charging the phone. You need to ensure that the phone is charged to a minimum of 90%+ just to ensure that the there is no need for calibrating the battery separately. This step needs to be followed strictly so as to get the best of the battery life out of this firmware version.
  • Some of the users have reported that the phone not being detected by the computer, then in this case you will have to ensure that the computer on which you will be connecting for the update is on the latest Windows 7 or even Windows XP / Vista with a minimum of USB 2.0 standard and also apart from this you will also will have to have the administration privileges in your computer.
  • Note that you need to ensure that the Antivirus as well as the other tools like KIES are completely closed and should not be open in any manner. Also, ensure that the KIES version in your computer is updated with the latest version just to ensure that all the drivers are successfully installed in the computer so that it can be easily connected to the computer with the Odin flash tool which we will be using it for updating the device.
  • So, before proceeding to the actual instructions which are mentioned in the next page, you will have to ensure that you go through all the instructions which are mentioned in the article so that you will be well versed with the instructions before proceeding to the following.

Procedure to update Galaxy POP with Gingerbread 2.3.4:
  • So, before we proceed to the instructions you need to ensure that you download the Galaxy POP Gingerbread Update Package which contains all the important tools like Odin, the firmware file and also it contains the OPS file which we will see in the due course of this article. Ensure that you are placing this file on the desktop so that it will be easier for you to locate the same.Extract Files Galaxy POP
  • Once the file is extracted to a folder in the desktop, you will see the files as shown in the below screen shot.

  • So, once all the files matches at your end as per the image above it will mean that all the 3 files have been successfully downloaded and you are ready to proceed for the software updation process.
  • So, once you are done with the above step, next up you will have to turn Off the Phone so that you can then enter your phone in the download mode. You can enter the download mode by pressing  down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer the above mentioned short reference video if you are unable to enter into the download mode for reference on how to turn ON the download mode. Please note that you only need to use the Odin which is there in the Zip file which you have downloaded. Please note that it is not recommended to flash with the firmware or to proceed to the next step if you are unable to enter your phone in the download mode. It’s very important to enter into the download mode as it acts just like the safe mode. You can also refer to the video for entering your phone into the download mode.

  • After this, keeping the Odin opened in your computer along with the download mode screen on your phone you will have to connect the phone with the help of the USB Cable to the computer while the Odin is opened in the computer after which you will see that the ID : COM block will turn Yellow as shown in the below screen shot. Once it is done then it means that all the necessary drivers have been successfully installed and also you will have to ensure that his time that you have turned Off all the antivirus solutions as well as KIES.

  • Once the Odin is opened as you can see above, you then need to connect the phone as mentioned above. After this you need to make sure that in Odin you will have to un tick the option of “One Package” after which you will see that all the options in the Odin will be activated so that you can then select the files in Odin.

  • Now, as shown in the above screen shot you will have to add the files as mentioned below, you can add files by clicking on the respective tabs in the Odin flash tool.

  • Please note that upon entering the files as it is as mentioned above, you need to check the same and then you need to proceed by clicking on the “Start” on the Odin after which the process of the firmware update will commence. Please note that it will take a maximum of 10-15 minutes, as soon as the updation process is completed, you will see the home screen in your phone and also you will have to watch out for Odin as you will see that a Blue colored box will be glowing up.
  • Now, once the device is turned ON, you will have to turn Off the device so that you can enter into the recovery mode and clear all the cache and other system data which slows down your phone. You can clear that by selecting options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which your Galaxy Ace will be rebooting and again you will have to set up your Google accounts etc. Doing this will not only optimize the battery but will also remove all the data flux from your phone. Note : Please note that after clearing the cache you will have to reconfigure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
